Blue Ridge Mountain Homes is a fully licensed and insured general contracting firm owned and operated by Randy Hughes in Black Mountain, NC, and is a proud member of the Asheville Home Builders Association.

Randy was born in Gainesville, Florida and subsequently raised in the Fort Lauderdale area. In 1981 he graduated from The University of Florida with a Bachelors Degree in Building Construction, and in 1982 he became a licensed General Contractor. In 1985, after a stint with a large Florida-based engineering firm, Randy joined the family construction business in Deerfield Beach, Florida. For the next 18 years, he worked alongside his two brothers constructing over 60 million dollars worth of commercial, industrial, and residential projects from the Florida Keys to the New England states.

In 2003, after several vacations in Western North Carolina, Randy made the heart-wrenching decision to sell his share of the business and relocate to Asheville, NC. His new goal in business, and life itself, was not to try to maximize profits, but to find ways to use his knowledge, education and experience to help others.

Initially he became a licensed home inspector, enjoying the process of helping new homeowners make critical decisions about major investments in their lives. However, with the constant draw of friends and neighbors to help them with their own construction projects, his love for building took over and he opened Blue Ridge Mountain Homes.

What started with small renovations and basement completions in Biltmore Park grew to commercial projects in Asheville and ultimately led to Randy’s favorite work, constructing new custom homes.

Along the way, Blue Ridge Mountain Homes has been hired twice to act as a third party between owners and their contractors to rectify problems and speed up construction. In 2010, the company had the honor of building a high-end spa for the wonderful folks at The Inn on Biltmore Estate. Blue Ridge Mountain Homes now averages three custom home projects per year.

Blue Ridge Mountain Homes was featured in the Asheville Citizen Times in 2009 as well as on the cover of Cabin Life Magazine in 2015
